Benefits of Hair Steaming

Posted by TASHA GARCIA on

There are so many awesome benefits to hair steaming. Hair steaming is becoming very popular in the salons but it's a treatment you can do at home. Hair steaming is the process of using moist heat to open the hair follicles and pores of the scalp to allow better absorption of moisture. Our hair endures environmental, chemical and heat tool damage. When you are constantly exposed to these your hair becomes damaged, brittle, dull, dry and fragile.

Steaming will improve the balance in your scalp, opens your pores, strengthens, refreshes, helps with manageability, adds elastically and definition to your curls. For those who have low porosity this is an excellent method to use to achieve and retain moisture. The moist heat also encourages blood flow to circulate, promoting hair growth too! The steam lifts the hair cuticle allowing your treatments to penetrate deeply into the hair shaft helping to heal damaged hair.

You should steam once a week for 20-30 minutes. When steaming you use less product, the deep conditioner immediately melts into your hair. Steaming generates a lot of steam which will cause the water to drip. Hot water drops will drip onto your neck or shoulders. You can avoid the heat and water drips by placing a towel around your neck and shoulders. The towel will also help from the water dripping down your face.

Clip your hair up. It is important to have all your hair in when receiving the treatment. When you are done with the steaming treatment, make sure to allow your hair to cool down. Once your hair is cooled down you can rinse off with cool water. Cool water is essential for sealing all the benefits from your deep conditioner or hot oil.

While steaming do not cover your hair with a plastic cap. Using a plastic cap defeats the purpose of the treatment. Many people get this part incorrect and do not receive the benefits. You want your hair to be exposed to the moist heat. Do not use the steamer more than once a week. Using it can cause over-moisturizing that can lead to weak hair or breakage.

Our CEO Tasha is a huge fan of hair steaming and has been using it for years before it became popular. She uses it weekly with our Hot Oil Blend and Deep Conditioner. Hair steaming is a must! She educates her customers and emphasizes on the importance of adding it to their regimen. To show the significance and how important it is to us, we have added the hair steamer on our website
